🏡 Looking for a neighborhood that is actually walkable?

Half the fun of this game is having somewhere good to walk. Dense PokéStops usually mean parks, murals, and a real downtown, which happens to be the same stuff that holds home value. Ask me which San Diego pockets have both.

Event dates and times are set by the game and can change. Verify in the Pokémon GO app before you head out. Pokémon and Pokémon GO are trademarks of The Pokémon Company, Niantic, and Nintendo. This newsletter is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.

A countywide mix of local favorites, a few picked to pair perfectly with this week's events. Filter by area and go find your new go-to spot.

⭐ Restaurant Highlight of the Week

🦐 Mariscos German

A true San Diego success story. A family from San Felipe, Baja California brought their coastal recipes north and, back in 2000, launched what is widely credited as San Diego's first seafood taco truck. Chef Jorge Fuentes became a local legend, his tacos landed on the Cooking Channel, and the operation grew into multiple trucks and storefronts across the county. Smoked marlin tacos, ceviche tostadas, and shrimp everything. Order at the window, eat standing up, thank me later.

Point Loma

Liberty Public Market

Thirty-plus food stalls under one roof, and a two-minute walk from Brew Fest at NTC Park. The easiest pre-festival or post-festival plan in the county.

Hillcrest

Snooze, an A.M. Eatery

Fuel up before CityFest with pancake flights and creative benedicts, right in the middle of the festival footprint on 5th.

Little Italy

Ironside Fish & Oyster

Ocean-to-table seafood and a raw bar in San Diego's buzziest food neighborhood. Pair it with a Saturday Mercato stroll.

Ocean Beach

Hodad's

A San Diego institution since 1969. Surf-shack walls, enormous burgers, and a line that moves faster than it looks.

North Park

Carnitas' Snack Shack

A neighborhood staple built on pork. Grab the triple threat sandwich and walk it off along 30th Street.

Del Mar

Board & Brew

Sandwiches and that famous secret sauce, serving North County since 1979. The move after an afternoon at the races.

Carlsbad

Campfire

Wood-fired everything in a stylish indoor-outdoor space. North County dining at its coziest, even in August.

Encinitas

The Taco Stand

Legendary Baja-style fish tacos. Grab a few and walk down to Moonlight Beach for sunset.

Oceanside

Petite Madeline Bakery

French-inspired pastries and a proper breakfast just blocks from the pier. Worth setting an alarm for.

Chula Vista

Tacos El Gordo

Tijuana-style adobada carved off the spit. Order at the correct station, ask for everything, and prepare to come back.

Bonita / South Bay

TJ Oyster Bar

Beloved Baja-style seafood, famous for smoked fish tacos and ceviche tostadas. A great pre-concert stop before the Amphitheatre.

Waterfront dining with the best skyline view in the county. Take the ferry over and make an afternoon of it.

La Mesa

La Mesa Village

A charming walkable strip of eateries, bakeries, and coffee shops in the heart of East County.

Julian

Julian Pie Company

An hour into the mountains and 20 degrees cooler. Apple pie, a slow main street, and the best heat escape on the list.

By the Numbers

San Diego Market Snapshot

Here is what the numbers said in July 2026, and what they mean for you.

$1.02MCountywide median sales price, down 2.9% from June
32Median days from listed to sold
2.4Months of supply, detached homes
4.0Months of supply, condos & townhomes

🔑 What this means for buyers

Here is the interesting part: the countywide median eased about $30,000 from June even though detached inventory is still historically tight at 2.4 months. Softer pricing plus rates in the 6.25% to 6.75% range means less competition on homes sitting past 45 days. Condos and townhomes, at 4.0 months of supply and a $670,000 median, are where the real negotiating room is right now.

🏡 What this means for sellers

Detached homes are still up 5.1% year over year with a $1,125,000 median, so well-prepared and well-priced homes continue to command attention. The window matters, though: buyer traffic thins after Labor Day. If you have been thinking about listing, the next few weeks are the last of the strong summer market. I am happy to run a free, no-pressure home value analysis on your specific property.

💡 Home Tip of the Week

August in San Diego is when buyers notice cooling. If you are prepping to list, service the AC, clean the ceiling fans, and open the windows an hour before a showing. Homes that feel cool and airy in late summer read as well-maintained, and homes that feel stuffy invite lowball offers. Want my room-by-room prep checklist? Just text me and I will send you mine.
